Job Title: Material Handler (GMP)

Division: Integrated Supply Chain

Department: Warehouse Operations

Group: Material Handlers

Location: Coralville, IA

Shift: Monday - Friday; 3pm-12am

Current Shift During COVID-19 pandemic: Monday – Friday; 3pm-11pm (w/ 30-Minute Paid Lunch)

Purpose statement:

The Material Handler - GMP ensures that the clean labs have necessary materials by stocking, fulfillment of requests and completion of transactions in the ERP system that support accurate financial reporting and inventory stock levels.

Essential Functions:

  • Stocks all three separate GMP clean labs with direct materials and supplies multiple times per shift as part of a visual stocking system

  • Utilizes item request database, fills, picks and delivers orders

  • Completes a variety of inventory transactions in the ERP system

  • Counts inventory to ensure accuracy; corrects any discrepancies

  • Participates in inventory-related process improvement events

  • Supports operations at local off-site facilities, on occasion by moving material between sites (including driving IDT-owned vehicles)

  • Runs reports and uses information to take action on expired, obsolete or excess inventory

  • Operates hand and electric-powered carts, pallet jacks, forklifts and other equipment

  • Interacts frequently with a wide range of personnel in a variety of methods to ensure reduced outages and provide appropriate substitutions

  • Updates inventory-related spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel on frequent basis according to material usage

  • Gowns and de-gowns prior entering and leaving the GMP lab, in accordance with GM clean lab guidelines.

  • Bleaches all incoming materials prior to stocking/organizing in GMP clean lab.

  • Provides creative solutions to store necessary materials, based on high volume production and shortage of space.

  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Valid Iowa driver’s license required

Professional Experience:

  • Two or more years of warehouse experience required

  • Previous ERP experience required

Physical Requirements:

Exert 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently

Visual Acuity:

  • Work requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to read pertinent printed material and distinguish colors.

  • Ability to accurately read measurements on equipment.

  • Ability to prepare and read written documentation; use of computer.
