Lockheed Martin Supplier Quality Engineer / Chelmsford, MA in Chelmsford, Massachusetts
Description: This position is highly supplier focused requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to manage supplier quality assurance responsibilities and ensure compliance across and at all levels of the organization on major programs from design through production stages. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and reporting on all supplier quality-related activities to assure fulfillment of contract/purchase order requirements. This position requires a strong team player with a background working in integrated product teams and a desire for maintaining a high commitment to both new and sustaining production. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Frequent interorganizational and outside supplier contact. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical supplier issues associated with specific projects.
Duties include but are not limited to:
•Utilizing Lean and Six Sigma techniques to facilitate supplier process improvements, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement.
•Conducting independent statistical data analysis to obtain improvement actions and facilitate problem solving.
•Performing supplier assessments and audit/visits on processes and procedures to ensure compliance to specifications, procedures and industry standards (i.e. ISO9001/AS9100).
•Interfacing with programs, Line of Businesses, top management, functional organizations, customers, suppliers, and peers.
•Representing assigned product line or commodity type as the primary Supplier Quality Engineering interface during all customer, in-house and IPT meetings
•Preparing reports, corrective action statements, metrics and other documents in support of assigned supplier and CAB efforts.
•Performing/overseeing delta first article efforts on suppliers.
•Investigating supplier deficiencies caused to determine cause, corrective actions and disposition the deficiencies.
•Providing technical direction to personnel inspecting and testing product.
•Travel to suppliers will be required

The Locale: Chelmsford is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of the city. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire’s White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Chelmsford and the region share an impressive past from the early days after the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to the revolutionary war. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north. It should be noted that Chelmsford, Massachusetts is approximately 35 miles northwest of the Boston metropolitan area and offers better access to a wide range of substantially more affordable regions in the area to live. Those regions include Northeastern and North Central Massachusetts, and Southern, New Hampshire.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined education.
- Experienced engineer in manufacturing, supply chain, mechanical or design engineering.
- Ability to perform root cause and corrective action.
- Ability to interpret a drawing and other technical data.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to travel to suppliers.
- Ability to obtain a secret security clearance so must be a US Citizen.
- Experience in Hybrid Military Specifications (MILSTD-883, MIL-STD-750), Industry Electronic Specifications (J-STD, IPC), and/or Mechanical Specifications (ASTM, GD&T).
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong Microsoft, SAP, PLM experience.
- Experience in failure analysis, corrective action, and presenting updates to critical metrics.
