The Hartford’s MLC IT Team is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and results-driven Staff Software Engineer to build and support various invest assignments. He/She will have end-to-end accountabilities across MLC IT that require integrations with the Policy Administration system.
Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate strong technical leadership skills, excellent partnership with stakeholders and partner teams, willingness to understand existing processes and systems, solid technical acumen, experience in delivering quality technical solutions and ensure the systems are stable, performant, and secure.
Primary responsibilities of the position are the following:
Responsible for End to End solution (designing, building and maintenance of the assets) involving multiple platforms and business solutions within Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring integrations, JPA, and AWS.
Provide technical leadership in Scrum Teams by enforcing the vision of the application architecture and safeguard the integrity of the application environment, in alliance with architects and other tech leads
Function as the go-to technical leader for the software applications supported, requiring depth and breadth of knowledge in technologies, applications, integration, interfaces and business domain
Understand and implement the overall technical vision for projects, programs, or systems, keeping in mind cross-functional impacts, integration across the organization and architecture rationalization
Proactively address technical issues and risks that could impact schedule and/or budget
Collaboration with teams to identify opportunities for integration across tools used in the life cycle, including agile, test automation, platform configuration management, and drive efficiencies.
Mentor team members (including Sourcing Partners) to enforce development guidelines and best practices
Work closely with stakeholders to design and document automation solutions that align with the business needs and also consistent with the architectural vision
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
High level of independence but is also a team player
Ability to provide concise, transparent communications about potential risks, mitigations and business impacts in a timely manner.
Build and implement capabilities for continuous integration and continuous delivery aligned with Enterprise DevOps practices.

Accountable for Software engineering practices e.g. Source code management, branching, issue tracking etc., followed for the product

Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of experience in application software solution development and execution skills for introducing evolving architecture based solutions like Cloud, SaaS, and new UI frameworks.
Hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies, such as, Java Web Services, JMS, JSP, XML, JSON, JDBC etc.
1+ year of experience with containerization and experience in cloud infrastructure environments like AWS and various AWS resources like Lambda, ECS, Fargate, Aurora, Cloud Formation, Route 53, S3, AWS Load Balancing (ALB), SQS, SNS etc.
1+ year experience in File Formatting API such as Aspose.
3+ years experience in building API/Web Services (SOAP and Rest), Springboot, Spring, JPA etc.
2+ years experience in writing automation for APIs using Karate and Gatling.
Experience with Oracle/RDS and Postgress relational database technologies. Knowledge of open source database technologies is beneficial
Experience in deploying the application with Application Servers and Web Servers.
Assist in configuring Virtual Environments and the setup of the E2E integration in lower environments
Experience with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, preferred tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Rally, SonarQube etc.
Familiar with Agile methodology
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$102,000 - $153,000
