RiseBoro Homecare Inc. Director of Youth and Family Programming in BROOKLYN, New York
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Director of Youth and Family Programming will be part of the Education Division managerial staff and will be responsible for providing high level support to the Divisions programming in all areas including contractual and regulatory compliance, quality evaluation and assessment, innovation, and organizational adherence. Direct oversight of programs includes assigned school-aged child care programs, afterschool and evening programs, and family programs. Specific responsibilities include:
Program Oversight:
Overall leadership and supervision of assigned Youth and Family Programs
Manage, direct and coordinate high quality, safe, and inclusive programs that incorporate RiseBoros mission, vision, and positioning
Ensure high quality programs and establish new programs and activities. Expand program within the community in accordance with strategic plan
Develop and oversee implementation of curriculum that support youths developmental, social, and academic needs; meet contractual requirements; and support family engagement
Responsible for supervision, operation, programming, and evaluation of assigned programs and staff. Coverage areas include program planning, program development and implementation, curriculum development and implementation, coaching, training, assessment, evaluation and team building
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
Uphold RiseBoro and licensors policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management
Complete all local, state, and federal documentation as needed for various funders
Establish positive rapport with youth, parents, volunteers and school personnel
Oversee organization of special and culminating events, including showcases that highlight youth achievement
Ensure all program data is accurately and timely recorded in appropriate database systems
Develop, facilitate, and monitor all required evaluations, surveys and assessments to inform programmatic continuous Quality Improvement feedback
Ensure follow-through on program plans, ongoing program development and evaluation
Communicate with program officers and appropriate funder staff members
With division leadership, develop and manage program budgets
Maintain regular communication with supervisor pertaining to all agency, program, contract, and site related matters
Other duties and special projects as assigned
Program Operations:
Lead and direct program design, planning and implementation in order to contribute to programs success
In collaboration with RiseBoros Office of Innovation, lead and pursue proposal writing efforts to secure funding and additional resources for Education Division programs and innovation
Cultivate, develop and maintain relationships with key partners that bring resources to the organization
Seek internal and external collaborations to implement strategies and maximize impact
Identify key performance indicators, assess emerging risks and opportunities, and develop plans to address them
Recommend opportunities to successfully integrate into new communities through proven engagement techniques, supporting the RiseBoros theory of change
Work with Division Leadership to produce and analyze data to support continuous improvement, including defining goals, objectives, timelines, and creating reporting dashboards to demonstrate program outcomes and impact
Work in collaboration with Program Directors to create and promote collaborative engagement and high performing teams
Meet with funders as required to cultivate relationships, share best practices, and provide exemplars of successful interventions
Ensure after-school and summer programming sites comply with respective funding source program regulations and other regulatory authorities including the New York City Department of Health, the NYC Department of Education, Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services
Organize and/or represent RiseBoro during meetings, conferences, and public forums as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Recruit, hire, supervise and develop assigned staff; ensure programs are adequately staffed at all times and that staff are oriented to respective roles within program structure
Support Program Directors and Coordinators in the daily functioning of their programs as well as timely decision making to ensure the delivery of high performance.
Provide oversight, coaching, mentoring, evaluation and guidance to program staff leading to their embracement of RiseBoros mission and youth development principles and practices contributing toward a safe, motivating, and respectful environment
Manage and delegate responsibilities involved in the day-to-day program operations to allow for efficient programming
Implement bi-monthly planning sessions with staff to enhance programs, services, and staffs skillsets
Prepare, review, and submit timesheets on a bi-weekly basis to the payroll department for processing
Finance:
Participate in the annual budget development process with RB leadership team; responsible for managing all budgets relating to programs under direct supervision
Recommend regular adjustments as needed to enhance program offerings; ensuring expenses remain within budgetary guidelines
Assist in division-wide goal of growth
Community Engagement:
Develop relationships with local schools, libraries, and community organizations; serve as an advocate
Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders (funders, Board Members, etc.) to develop, sustain and/or expand effective programs and promising practices.
Represent and promote RiseBoros programming in the community and attend meetings and events as required
COMPETENCIES
At least 5 years' experience operating or directing in the youth development field or in an educational organization or equivalent
Considerable knowledge of the youth development field, program development, and school settings
Demonstrated success in proposal writing and securing funds
Teaching experience including capable of developing curricula is required
Demonstrated ability to relate to young people and serve as a positive role model; ability to engage individuals and families with diverse backgrounds and experiences
Strong program management and development background
Demonstrated ability in program outreach and recruitment, budgeting, performance-based contracting and compliance with SACC licensing procedures
Excellent interpersonal, program planning, organizational, verbal, and written skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion
Ability to organize, manage, and evaluate multiple activities and services
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with RB staff, volunteers, and clients
Ability to motivate and engage staff
Ability to communicate effectively with other team members, community agencies, and clients with diverse opinions, values, and cultures
Strong ability to track and report on programmatic data; complete necessary reports and meet prescribed deadlines
Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities
Have a demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc.)
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree required in Education, Psychology, Sociology or related field; Masters degree strongly preferred
Teaching experience preferred
