This Senior Field Leader role has a responsibility for the Gas Construction as well as directly leading 6-10 Field Leaders and 30-75 OM&C employees.
Lead Gas Construction work plan and all aspects of Gas Construction Grid projects, including safety, operational goals, performance, adherence to standards, employee development, and productivity.
Ensure compliance dates are met and provide oversight on documentation and drive operational improvements.
Develop, mentor and support the Gas Construction multi-layered team structure.
Provide leadership on projects and problem solving for Gas Operations working across all levels and organizations.
Act as a key representative and change agent with Union Leadership and personnel on working agreement and Gas Operations strategy.
Lead the organization to meet company breakthrough goals and assure adherence to company standards and construction documentation (compliance) requirements.
Identify and implement operational improvements based on process knowledge and organizational performance.
A High School Diploma is required.
Five or more years of successful performance in the Gas Field Leader role or other comparable exempt positions.
Understanding of Michigan Gas Safety Standards, Company Standards, Procedures.
Extensive knowledge of gas underground construction and maintenance, employee training and certification requirements (JGOCC).
Extensive experience managing major construction projects including planning, resource allocation and material logistics.
Understanding of safety rules (Company procedures, Michigan Gas Safety Standards and MIOSHA).
Working Agreement knowledge.
Essential Functions :
Responsible for the planning, organization, coordination, evaluating and supervision of employees assigned to the operation, maintenance and construction of gas distribution systems, customer gas services, buildings and grounds or utility support areas. Recommends proposed changes and enhancements to systems and facilities operation, responds to complaints and requests for information, prepares and maintains reports of completed job orders and the status of jobs in progress. Inspects job sites to check on work progress, assure satisfactory completion, including restoration; Plans new assignments, prepares requisitions for operations and maintenance supplies, equipment and materials and supervises special projects as required. Conducts regular safety meetings, participates as a member of safety committee; investigates and completes necessary incident reports and accident reports; maintains records, prepares and submits required reports for appropriate agencies. Implements preventative maintenance programs. Regular attendance is expected.
Hours and Travel
This position requires the individual to work a minimum of 40-50 hours per week with most of the time spent in the office or specific field locations. Individual needs to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines or assist with storm restoration activities and could be given very short notice to do so. Individual should be willing to participate in the on-call rotation in case of potential storms. Individual may have to work outside of assigned headquarters to help with storm restoration which may require overnight stays. Could potentially work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the customer, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime. Individual must have a valid driver’s license.
