Senior Technical Application Engineer

Position Overview

This Senior Technical Applications Engineer position will be responsible for supporting key advanced development and technical acquisitions with EU market OEMs. In this role, he or she will understand key customer eMobility trends and promote them within the engineering product development, sales and strategy teams. He or she will understand Eaton’s roadmap and represent the technical characteristics of the LV & HV eMobility products & solutions. The ultimate objective is to develop strong customer relationships and to grow the Eaton eMobility business.

In This Function You Will

  • Serves as technical applications interface support externally to EU OEM customers and internally to cross functional engineering, sales and strategy teams.

  • Supports pre-acquisition and acquisition engineering customer interfacing activities with customers.

  • Actively drive project acquisition technical phases to deadlines and negotiate critical milestones with customers.

  • Coordination of customer meetings including preparation, documentation, defining internal work packages and status tracking.

  • Creation of sample documentation, control plans, design and process FMEAs

  • Support sales team to identify and assess new business opportunities by collecting customer requirements, evaluate initial product compliance, and note areas of non-conformance and/or opportunities for requirements modification

  • Support the analysis of customer requirements trends and assist internal advanced product and technology development activities

  • Supports the acquisition/pursuit team and sales team by providing the voice of the customer, leading technical customer communication and establishing expectations.

  • Supports the strategy and sales team to develop product technology roadmap and define RFI & RFQ quote readiness

  • Prepares presentations to effectively communicate status, highlights, risks and mitigation plans

  • Interact with development groups including Hardware, Electrics/Electronics, Software, and support guidance for development of market competitive technologies

  • Work directly with customers and assist with product installation, problem solving, root cause analysis and vehicle/system integration.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (Automotive OEM or Tier#1):

  • Vehicle electrification / power electronics domain (eMobility)


+ + Automotive engineering product development (Low Voltage and/or High Voltage systems)

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective customer interface

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Specifically, in an international product development/engineering environment. (Proficient in English as well as German or French)

  • Experience in working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Must be able to work in the EU without corporate sponsorship now and in the future
