Our company runs on a LAMP based business system that was built entirely in-house from scratch over the past 15 years. We have over 100 Macs, dozens of Linux servers, and a small amount of PC workstations and servers.
We are looking for a talented systems administrator who is comfortable working in a small company setting wearing a lot of hats, and maintaining expertise while providing a full range of service and support in IT.
The number one priority is to ensure all our Linux servers and Cisco network devices are monitored and maintained so that the risk of downtime is minimal.
Manage a cluster of virtual servers using XenServer and VMWare
Monitor and manage the user workstation and server backups going to the cloud.
Evaluate new technologies to make our systems better.
Monitor our live replicas of our MySQL databases going out to remote locations and re-synch if needed.
Cron jobs: We have a large library of scheduled jobs used to automate tasks. These need to be monitored for errors and corrected. New tasks that become part of our daily workflow are expected to be automated via shell scripting whenever possible by the person in this position.
SOX compliance. Our parent company has a strict set of SOX compliance regulations we have adhere to. Part of this job requires regular server penetration testing, password change management, and vulnerability patching.
Resolving DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and SSL/SSH issues
Networking. We are part of a large enterprise and our network needs include our connection to our factory and to our parent company network. Problems related to this must be diagnosed and either fixed locally or documented in a way with which we can bring in 3rd party resources with higher-end networking knowledge to resolve.
At least 3 years of relevant systems / network administrator experience in a mixed-environment network consisting of Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows servers and workstations.
